Our 6 days 5 nights travel to Ilo-ilo and Boracay

We all have our different passion. a lot of people loves, staying at home, going to the mall, participating in a night life parties, home parties, but we as a couple loves exploring and traveling to different places. What really interests us the most are the beaches. Because of its blue water, endless sound of wooosshhhhinggg waves and the smell of the beach air. On this post, we want to tell you about our experiences in our 5 days and 6 nights travel and how did we planned it.

As an individual, most of us dreamed on stepping on the white sand beach of Boracay Island. But all we know is that we have to prepare a lot of cash to be able to reach the paradise not only for the fair, foods and lodging but also for the possible expenses that we might encounter during the trip. Also we need an extra cash in-case of emergency. At the beginning, we doubted the plan but decided to execute it. We will never know the outcome unless we tried it.

On the month of September 2015, the Cebu Pacific had a seat sale of P499.00 per head on all destinations in domestic flights. Yes! we got a seat sale which saved us more than P15,000 pesos fare going to the island of Boracay. Do you know why? Because if you originated in Davao City, you have to avail a connecting flight from Davao to Cebu then going to Caticlan or Davao to Manila to Caticlan which would cost for about P6,000 pesos to P7000 pesos for your one way fair! And yes, if we rely on a regular fair, we have to prepare atleast P25,000 pesos only for the fair. going to the island.

So we decided to avail on the seat sale and set our schedule on January 28, 2016 going from Davao City to Ilo-ilo City and February 2, 2016 going back to Davao from Ilo-ilo City. With this flight schedule, we only paid P2,100 more or less already good for two persons. And also, we were able to visit some places in Ilo-ilo as part of our adventure.

JANUARY 28, 2016 (FIRST DAY)

We arrived at Ilo-ilo City at around 12 noon. The airport is quite far from the city. The only possible paid transportation during that time is a taxi in which you have to pay P500 pesos fix and they will take you to the destination you wish as long as its in Ilo-ilo City. We managed to haggle it to P400 pesos to take us to Go Hotels

The Go Hotels is located at the center of Ilo-ilo and we were lucky as a walk in guests that there was still an available room for P900 pesos more or less.

Then after we prepared our things in the hotel, we decided to go out and have some late lunch. We were exhausted and a bit starving due to our travel. We visit Reyes Barbecue inside the Robinsons Mall where Go hotels is located.

We got tired after the lunch so we decided to return to the hotel and take a rest. Then on that evening, we decided to explore ILO-ILO City. We asked some locals what are the best places for dinner. Then they pointed us to Tatoy's Manokan

O2 BAR (Chill)

JANUARY 29, 2016 (Second Day)

We woke up early on the second day. To avail the breakfast at Chika-an just below the hotel we stay. Then after, we prepared for our departure to Caticlan.

CERES TERMINAL

After our breakfast, we then proceed back to our room and get our things. We were about to leave for Caticlan. We then hired a taxi which quickly deliver us to the Ceres Bus terminal. The taxi bill reached P130 more or less for a good comfortable ride.

The travel time took almost 7 hours of a bumpy ride! We exhausted all our energy due to the long ride. The bus stops and pick ups passengers on the street. It is one of the main reason why the bus took so long to reach Caticlan. Other reason is there are some part of the road which is quite bumpy.

We reached Caticlan about 4:00pm in the afternoon and from there, we paid P200.00 each person for the environmental fee, fair and the terminal fee. Then ride a motorize boat to cross the sea to Boracay Island.

We did not have any reservation when we arrived at Boracay. While we are walking to the motorcycle terminal, someone approached us and asked if we have any rooms for the night. We told the lady that we don't have a place to stay. Since it's our first time, we gamble to trust her since she was nice. Then she took us to Eriko's House

GOLDEN COWRIE FILIPINO RESTAURANT

When we reached Eriko's House, we immediately arranged our items for our long 3 nights stay at Boracay Island. after taking some rest, we decided to get out of our room for our first dinner. We spotted Golden Cowrie Filipino Restaurant.

What attracted us to eat at Golden Cowries Filipino Restaurant were the fire dancers.

Before getting back to the hotel after our dinner, we decided to take a walk at D'mall. We looked for some interesting place to go and ended up in this ice cream store. We decided to stop for a while to take a bite.

JANUARY 30, 2016 (Third Day)

We booked for a whole day island hopping at Borcay Island. This activity should not be missed. This is one of the most important event whenever you visit the island. We booked for an island hopping for P800.

PIKNIKAN (lunch)

SNORKLING

PUKA SHELL BEACH

PIZZA HUT (Dinner)

JANUARY 31, 2016 (fourth day)

We booked for some activities on the fourth day. Yes, this was definitely one of the most excited day of our adventure. You can not just simply leave the island without trying this activities. There were a lot activities but this seems to be the highlight of all.

We paid P600.00 for this activity during the high season. We were even able to feed them fishes :D

For a fee of P1,200 per person, we were able to enjoy being a kite. The best fifteen (15) minutes of our life.

The highlight of our visit at Boracay Island. The priceless sunset viewing. Literally priceless!!! Because you don't have to pay anything to see the beautiful sunset from the shore!

After a long day of activities, we gave ourselves a warm break. We had a dinner at this expensive restaurant fronting the seashore. where we can still visibly experience the sun during the dusk.

FEBRUARY 1, 2016 (fifth day)

After our short stay at Boracay Island, on the fifth day of our adventure, we are on our way to return to Iloilo City to catch up with our flight returning to Davao City scheduled on February 2, 2016. But this is not the end of our travel. We took a van paying P350.00 pesos to SM City Ilo-ilo City for 5 hours very fast bumpy ride. And it was a scary ride because of the speed. We regret it a bit. Hoping that we should have taken a bus ride. It's safer.

Our last stop here a Ilo-ilo City. Visiting the Cathedral was like experiencing the historical part of Ilo-ilo City.

Then we returned to Go hotels Ilo-ilo City.

FEBRUARY 2, 2016 (sixth and last day)

GOING HOME

I hope you enjoyed reading our post and help guide you in your future travel to Boracay. This was our schedule and iterinary. Our Budget was P25,000 pesos without air fair and luckily there was P3,000 pesos left for us when we got home. Of course we have an extra cash with us just to be prepared for the unexpected. We could lower our expenses more if we knew all the things about Ilo-ilo and Boracay, but it can not be help because there are some unexpected expenses.

This was our first time to visit Boracay. And we are hopeful to re-visit the place again and experience other activities. I hope I could give you the exact computation of our expenses. But it would be much better if you experience it on your own and not rely on ours. For it's different out there.

Thank you for reading :D
